I am looking for any and all suggestions about what to do for borders... Or should I just leave it as is? or maybe remove the purple and leave it borderless? It IS meant as a lap quilt, so I am not adding borders for size or anything, just appearance.

Border... or no border?
So I made this quilt a long time ago. It's from a pattern by The Buggy Barn.
I don't know what to do about borders. I have auditioned just about every fabric I own as a possible border, and none of them work. I was thinking maybe a black border with pawprints in two (diagonally opposite) corners, but I can't find a black I really like (btw - the things that look blue in this photo are actually purple).
I am looking for any and all suggestions about what to do for borders... Or should I just leave it as is? or maybe remove the purple and leave it borderless? It IS meant as a lap quilt, so I am not adding borders for size or anything, just appearance.

It rained yesterday and a very little bit today. I love rain, I call it quilting weather. I love to sit in my studio and work and watch th...
I think you could remove the purple and bind with it. Gorgeous quilt.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the purple but I think you need to incorporate the orange-ish red in the border because it will make the cats pop more. I love your quilt and can't wait to see it finished. See ya at Stashbusters!
ReplyDeleteI also think one of the orange colors. Blue and orange are complimentary colors. Love the quilt!
ReplyDeleteI like the pule, do you have any of the dark rusty browns from the front left??
ReplyDeleteI like just the narrow purple border. You could also do a pieced border, sort of like piano keys, but long skinny triangles like the triangles on the kittys' backs, using all the colors from the top. I'd still leave the purple between the top and the borders, and put more purple outside the pieced border; another thin border, or purple binding.
ReplyDeleteIt looks complete to me, I wouldn't add anything more unless you really need it bigger, then the other suggestions could work, Helen
ReplyDeleteLove it the way it is. Looks complete to me. Border only if you want to make it larger.
ReplyDeleteBTW also love your Woodland Creature Quilt...heard you say on Stashbusters you had finished it. Gorgeous! A lot of work in that one for certain!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I wish it was done! I finished the last of the animal blocks, still have to make the borders!
